Rope Basket

This DIY rope basket is such a perfect storage solution for any home.  It’s stylish but not gaudy and can easily go with any room.  I like how it’s multifunctional as a decor piece OR for more practical purposes like laundry.  All you’ll need is an inexpensive plastic basket, rope, and hot glue.  Learn how you can make your own in under an hour right here.

Beachcomber Basket

There’s nothing as energizing to me than summertime and sunshine.  I love bringing that energy into my home by decorating with beach-inspired decor.  Whether it’s actually summertime or not, this beachcomber basket is such a simple way to carry the beach theme throughout your home.  I love how fresh and clean it makes your house look as well.  Celebrate Creativity shares all the DIY info here.

Felt Baskets

Oh how I love organization!  Don’t get me wrong, my house has little messes scattered here and there just like any well-loved home, but it sure is nice knowing that everything has a place when it does get put away.  These plain but bold felt baskets are a great way to keep yourself organized in the kitchen, laundry room, closets, and more.  Best part of all?  This DIY won’t take anything more than some felt material and hot glue.  Read more here.

Simple-to-Sew Storage Basket

It surprises me sometimes how much of a statement a simple project can make with the right fabric.  This square storage basket is the perfect example of how an otherwise simple basket can really add some life and fun into a room with the right choice of fabric.  It will require a sewing machine but it’s nothing that beginner sewers can’t handle.  Find the tutorial here.

Crochet Basket

These crocheted baskets are super fun storage solutions for craft and laundry rooms!  Don’t know how to crochet?  Here’s your chance to learn!  It’s much easier than some might think!  My Poppet gives all the basket instructions here.

Dyed Heirloom Basket

I’m in love with this dyed heirloom basket!  It could be used for special occasions and everyday decor all the same.  It’ll take some weaving skills and patience but look how totally worth it it will be in the end!  Gather some plain and colored raffia and follow the tutorial from A Subtle Revelry to make your own.

Coiled Rope

Use coiled rope and colorful twisted mason line to quickly coil up this cute basket.  Hot glue will hold it all together.  DIY doesn’t get much easier than this!

Burlap

I can’t think of many places where burlap ruins the look of a room.  You could put this storage basket in just about every room of your house and get great use out of it.  Just select the right fabric for the lining to match the style of your home.  So easy.  Read more here.

Cardboard Baskets

I seriously love when you can take ordinary, everyday items and transform them into something worthy of display in your home!  I think it’s why DIY projects are so addictive.  This cardboard basket project is the perfect example of what I mean.  You’ll just wrap cardboard in twine or sisal and insert a burlap lining to complete the basket.  Let yourself be impressed with this DIY transformation here.

Basket Weaving

I enjoy most DIY projects but my favorites are those where I really get to work with my hands and create something out of raw materials.  Example:  basket weaving!  Not only do you end up with a cute item to display in your home, but it’s also a way to experience how people made useful resources before the days of factory lines and machines.  This would be a neat project to do with children as well!  Design Sponge shares this most excellent DIY here.

Tassel Basket

While some DIY projects are fun to create from scratch, others are great because you improve an already made product.  This tassel basket shows exactly what I mean.  You simply take a basket you already have lying around the house and adorn it with tassels to add some extra personality.  Yarn tassels are SUPER easy to make!  Learn how from Honestly WTF!

Bushel Basket

Cottage- and barn-style homes in particular will really get some added appeal from this fantastic bushel basket.  But with Autumn now in full swing, everyone can take advantage of bringing the harvest into your house with some farm inspired decor.   It brings such a comfy, warm feeling just looking at it!  Paint sticks and chalk paint bring it all to life.  Get more DIY information here.
