Homemade Drinks To Fight Colds
Hot Honey-Lemon {With Or Without Ginger}
You can never go wrong with this first recipe. This is the one I use most, and it’s fantastic when a sore throat starts coming on.
- In the bottom of a mug, place about 1 tablespoon of raw honey.
- Add another tablespoon of lemon juice. Fresh is best, but bottled works if you have it.
- For an extra kick, stick a slice of fresh ginger in there.
- Pour boiling water over everything, stir, and let the ginger steep for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove the ginger, stir and enjoy.
Your throat is about to feel so much better!
Cold Buster!
Get ready, because this one is potent, but it’s also delicious with a little kick.
- Heat a cup of water.
- Once the water boils, add 1 clove of garlic {crushed}, a teaspoon of grated ginger, and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric.
- Let this mixture sit until lukewarm.
- Strain the water to remove the garlic and ginger.
- Reheat and stir in 1-2 tablespoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Adjust to taste.
Minty Cold Tea
This is a tea made with fresh mint leaves, and it tastes and smells amazing! It’s great to help clear clogged nasal passages in a jiffy. If your tummy is a little upset, it’ll cure that too!
- Place a small handful of fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a mug.
- Pour boiling water over the mint leaves.
- Wait about 10 minutes, then remove the leaves.
- Add your favorite sweetener to taste.
Spiced Turmeric Hot Cocoa
What better vehicle for some extra turmeric than a cup of hot cocoa? Turmeric is one of the best immune boosters out there, because it help reduce inflammation in the body.
- Pour one cup of milk into a saucepan and heat over low heat until it simmers.
- Add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon turmeric, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 2-3 teaspoons of honey.
- Blend everything together with a handheld milk frother.
- Pour into a mug and enjoy!
