15 Surprising Ways to Use Magic Erasers

After working in a classroom for a handful of years, you learn which cleaning products are the best at doing what they claim.  Magic Erasers are one of those products.  The best part of all is that Magic Erasers are useful in many unexpected ways.  Here’s a short list of my favorite uses for the Magic Eraser.

1.  Hairspray Buildup

I may be a child of the 80’s but I can’t say I use hairspray all that often.  But when I do, the sticky stuff seems to find its way mostly to the wall and floor.  It can be so annoying to scrub at the wall just to end up seeing that the buildup is still there.  Instead, simply moisten a Magic Eraser and be so impressed with how easy it is to remove the hairspray from your walls and floor.

2. Car Rims

My father worked in the car industry while I was growing up.  For an otherwise quiet man, I quickly learned that car talk was one conversation that never left us wanting for a connection.  Needless to say, I learned a lot about cars and to really appreciate them.  Years later, car talk still comes easily to me and when it comes to my own car… it’s amongst my neatest and best maintained possessions.  Dirty rims are one of my car peeves but with a little water and minimal scrubbing, my rims are as shiny as can be.

3. Grill

I love a good char on my grilled food just the same as the next person, but that doesn’t mean I like to eat charcoal and burnt grime.  Keep your grill free of all that gross buildup with the power of your Magic Eraser.

4. Toys and Patio Furniture

Wipe away germs and dirty weather buildup from toys and patio furniture.  No more need to worry about sitting down on a dusty seat!  Read more here.

5. Sports Equipment

From sweat to mud and dirt to even blood at times, sports equipment can get pretty germy!  Get all your gear back into shape with your Magic Eraser and some water.

6. Garbage Cans

Give your garbage cans a good wipe down with your Magic Eraser.  Your nose will thank you too for getting rid of yucky garbage can odors.

7. Siding

I live in a neighborhood where many of the houses are finished with Hardie Plank siding.  It’s durable but I also like to use the softest products on the siding to care for my home and most valuable investment.  My Magic Eraser has been the perfect way to wipe off dirt, bird “presents”, and other spots without damaging the paint.  It works on vinyl and other siding as well!  Source.

8. Garage Door

Just like house siding, garage doors can take quite the beating from the sun and other weather conditions.  Your Magic Eraser will cut right through the dirt, scuffs, and grime in no time at all.

9. Shoes

Whether you were stuck in a rain storm, walked on salted walkways after a snow storm, or splashed mud on them during a game, our sneakers can always use a bit of love.  The Magic Eraser is great at cleaning those messes right up.  Your shoes will feel almost new again!

10. Work Space

Keep your work space or office nice and organized.  Give the desk and all that space behind electronics a good wipe down with your Magic Eraser and you’ll be surprised at how much you actually want to get to work.  Read more here.

11.  Grout

Tile isn’t so bad to clean with a good mop, but even the best mops never seem to be able to clean the grout.  For a really thorough cleaning job, use your Magic Eraser to wipe all that dirt away from between the tiles.

12. Rust

Not just the regular Magic Eraser, but the Nano Sponge Magic Eraser in particular sure does pull the rabbit out of the hat when it comes to removing rust stains.  I use mine in the bathroom and with well-loved pots and pans.

13. Nail Polish

If you’ve ever spilled nail polish, you know it can be a nightmare to clean up!  Make the job easier by wetting your Magic Eraser and wiping down the tile, wall, or counter space that’s covered with the varnish.  Read more details from Jezebel.

14. Hard Water

I’ve always tried to have a water softener installed in every home in which I’ve lived, but even with the softener, hard water buildup just seems inevitable.  For a solution to all that hard water buildup, grab your Magic Eraser to wipe off shower doors, tile, faucets, toilets, and more.

15. Silver

I always worry about the cleaning products I use on special silver dinnerware and jewelry.  I want to use something effective but that won’t damage my precious silver over time.  I’ve found that with just a little water, my Magic Eraser is the perfect product for removing tarnish from silver.
