Who wants a sticky garbage disposal reeking up the kitchen?!  Read on for natural ways to clean and freshen your sticky garbage disposal.

All Purpose Cleaner

Start by cleaning off all that muck and grime from the basin and drain of your sink.  You can’t eliminate odors if old food is still hanging around.  Use a tough all purpose cleaner to get the job done.

Baking Soda & White Vinegar

Baking soda has long been used around the house for odor control.  Drop about 1 Cup of baking soda down the sink drain and wash it down with hot water and white vinegar to cut back on foul odors.  Get directions here.

Lemon Salt Cubes

Disposal blades can gather food buildup over time, leading to offensive smells.  Eliminate that yucky buildup by dropping lemon salt cubes down the drain.  The lemon and salt will help break the buildup down.  Learn more here.

Essential Oils

Combine essential oils with boiling water and baking soda for a much more pleasant smelling odor killer.  Learn how to make essential oil garbage disposal bombs here.

Coffee Ground Tablets

I don’t drink coffee but that doesn’t mean I don’t LOVE how it smells!  Replace offensive disposal odors with the warm aroma of coffee with these awesome coffee ground tablets.

Listerine

Sometimes you need a really quick fix to eliminate sink odors.  Pouring some Listerine down the drain and rinsing it with hot water is super fast and effective for short term effects.

Citrus Rinds

Grind up some citrus rinds in the disposal for a super easy and natural odor eliminator.  Idea found here.

Lemon Tabs

Take advantage of the fresh smell and cleaning power of lemons by making your own natural lemon tabs.  The salt and baking soda will help eliminate old food as well.  Get the DIY here.

Our bins smell really bad at times, and those coffee ground tablets sound like a good idea. I don’t drink coffee as well but I enjoy the smell of coffee. I’d love to try these! Most especially the coffee ground tablets.
